Thực ra, việc ghi nhớ 1 từ hoặc 1 cụm từ sẽ khó khăn hơn rất nhiều so với việc nhớ 1 hình ảnh cụ thể..
Các phương pháp học truyền thống thường dùng phương pháp “Word by Word” – dịch từ Tiếng Anh sang Tiếng Việt hoặc ngược lại. Phương pháp này thực sự dễ gây nhàm chán và tạo áp lực cho trẻ em, ngay cả đối với người lớn cũng vậy.
Như một hệ quả, Phương pháp mới tốt hơn ưu việt hơn – “Learning with flashcards” – học từ vựng bằng hình ảnh ra đời và nhanh chóng được nhân rộng.
Thẻ học Flashcards có rất nhiều ưu điểm:
Dựa trên kinh nghiệm giảng dạy thực tế, để phát huy tối đa các công dụng vượt trội của Flashcards, POLCET xin chia sẻ một số game vừa học vừa chơi áp dụng tốt với đối tượng trẻ em như sau:
Các phụ huynh vận dụng sáng tạo tùy theo từng khả năng của bé để tăng giảm độ khó cho phù hợp:
Phụ huynh lần lượt đưa ra hình ảnh và đọc to từ vựng được nhắc đến, để trẻ đọc theo – lưu ý cố gắng “chuẩn” theo phiên âm (in ở mặt sau). Mỗi lần trẻ đọc đứng hãy nói “Bingo” để khích lệ trẻ. Số Flashcards được sử dụng nên tăng dần theo mức độ ghi nhớ của từng trẻ. Khởi đầu tốt nhất là 3-5 từ.
Chỉ nên học theo từng cụm chủ đề, tránh sự phân tâm cũng như liên tưởng sai lệch. Phụ huynh hãy lặp đi lặp lại khoảng 2-3 lần, rồi đề nghị trẻ tự đọc theo hình ảnh được đưa ra. Việc này giúp hình thành thói quen phản xạ ngôn ngữ theo hình ảnh và tình huống thực tế.. Không khuyến khích trẻ nhìn vào chữ.
Sau khi trẻ thuần thục và tự tin với trò chơi “lặp đi lặp lại”. Phụ huynh hãy đảo thứ tự các flashcards một cách ngẫu nhiên để kiểm chứng mức độ ghi nhớ thực sự của trẻ. Nếu trẻ gặp khó thì phụ huynh hãy lặp lại 1 lần để trẻ đọc theo nhé. Hãy nhớ nói “Bingo” một cách hào hứng – mỗi khi trẻ đọc đúng.
Khi trẻ đã “trôi chảy” thì hãy tách nhóm để riêng những Flashcards đó sang 1 bên để tiện ôn luyện, kiểm tra sau này. Những Flashcards khó nhớ đối với trẻ thì cũng nên để riêng ra cho trẻ ôn thêm sau.
Khi trẻ đã vượt qua được hơn 20 Flashcards thì phụ huynh có thể trộn ngẫu nhiên và lấy tay che đi phần chữ trên mặt Flashcard để trẻ chỉ thấy hình ảnh gợi nhớ và yêu cầu đọc lên từ được che khuất.
Luôn nhớ khích lệ “Bingo” mỗi khi bạn ấy đọc tốt sẽ thêm động lực và hứng khởi mạnh mẽ đối với trẻ.
Phụ huynh đặt úp 4-10 tấm thẻ Flashcards lên bàn rồi đọc to 1 từ bất kì, trẻ được phép mở từng Flashcards lên, nếu chọn đúng thì đọc to từ khóa, nếu chưa đúng thì úp Flashcards xuống và tiếp tục tìm…
Lưu ý: đưa Flashcards mà trẻ khó nhớ vào, và để trẻ tìm lúc cuối cùng. Việc này sẽ giúp trẻ tự tin hơn với tấm thẻ khó học, khó nhớ đó.
Có thể áp dụng cho nhiều trẻ chơi cùng 1 lúc.
Phụ huynh bày 10-20 tấm Flashcards ra bàn/ sàn nhà. Các trẻ đứng/ ngồi xung quanh. Phụ huynh sẽ ngẫu nhiên đọc to 1 từ để trẻ nhanh chóng tìm và đặt tay lên trên tấm thẻ tương ứng. Ai chọn đúng và nhanh nhất sẽ thắng cuộc. Quá 3-5 giây là thua cuộc, tùy vào mức độ nhanh nhẹn của trẻ.
Mức độ khó hơn: Đọc liên tục 2-3 từ vựng để luyện khả năng phản xạ cho trẻ. Lặp lại “câu đố” khi thấy trẻ có sự lúng túng.
Khi trẻ đã rất thuần thục số lượng 50 Flashcards (1 bộ từ vựng theo chủ đề) thì chính là lúc trẻ muốn trở thành người đố, và nói “Bingo” mỗi khi phụ huynh đoán đúng.
Việc phụ huynh đôi khi cố tình “đọc sai” hoặc chủ động “hỏi bài” là cách tốt để trẻ có thêm cơ hội được “ôn lại” từ vựng, cũng như khích lệ trẻ chủ động hỏi những từ không biết hoặc chưa chắc chắn.
Hãy nhớ: “Khi được đóng vai người truyền đạt kiến thức thì trí nhớ lâu dài của trẻ được tăng lên đáng kể“!
